The beautiful coloration of the this rug is somewhat typical of the type, but this border design is simply spectacular.  The Dragon motif became a significant element in Persian carpet designs, often used to represent power and resilience, while elephants motifs symbolized Kingship and sovereign power and were used as symbols of royal authority.

This carpet is in excellent condition and dates from the turn of the 20th century.
