12784 Kerman Design 10 ft x 14 ft

The design on this Persian rug is very much like the Kerman rugs of the early 20th century but it was likely made elsewhere under the auspices of “Sherkateh Farsh.”  Established in 1935 as Sherkat-e Sahami-ye Farsh-e Iran (Stock Corporation of Persian Carpets), it was a historic, state-affiliated corporation founded to standardize, preserve, and elevate the quality of traditional Persian carpet weaving.

The piece was probably made in the 2nd-3rd quarter of the 20th century using superior wool and craftsmanship.
