In the south of Caucasus is the province of Gharabagh (Karabagh), a more sedentary and easy life encouraged throughout the region an intense output of rugs of a high quality and with great character. Rugs from Gharabagh during this period tended to reflect Russian imperial tastes, while still keeping their unique tribal character.
